CEM Systems protect Indira Gandhi International Airport

CEM Systems, a Tyco International company, has been awarded the contract to provide access control for the new Terminal 3 in Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi. The contract was awarded by ADT Security, India who will supply a fully integrated access control and IP video solution. CEM’s industry leading AC2000 AE (Airport Edition) system will be installed at the airport. The AC2000 AE system is a world renowned security product that has been designed by airports for airports. It offers a host of additional functions and modules that have been designed specifically for airports including airport-specific software and airport-specific applications including ‘Passenger Segregation’, ‘Check-In Desk Enabling’ and ‘Airbridge Monitoring System’.
The Delhi installation will utilize two variations of CEM’s advanced S610 IP card readers. The S610e card reader offers an on-board 10/100Mbps Ethernet connection and internal database for offline card validation, ensuring that access control is provided even if the reader is offline from the host system. The CEM advanced card readers feature airport specific door modes such as: Airbridge, Equipment Enable and Passenger mode to control the flow of passengers.
The reader comes with a graphical LCD allowing a large number of default or user configurable messages to be displayed. These messages provide feedback to the cardholder on his or her card usage, eg. ‘Wrong Timezone’, ‘Wrong Access Level’ and ‘Card Expiring’. The display also provides information to the system users such as airline staff, on which door mode the door is operating in. For example ‘Passenger Mode’ where a member of airline staff uses his or her card to keep the door open for an extended period of time for arriving/departing passengers.
For the more security-critical areas, the airport has chosen the S610f Fingerprint solution which combines a fingerprint reader, intelligent controller, and advanced IP card reader in one powerful solution. The reader is used to control access to restricted areas where an additional biometric layer of security is required. The seamless integration will enable the airport to handle operational complexity and security-related challenges in a large-scale environment. Hence, the integrated system can fully support the operational applications such as passenger movement, vehicle management, airbridge monitoring system and check-in desk enabling which are critical to the airport’s ground operations.

Used by airports around the globe including 80% of UK airports, AC2000 AE is a fully customizable access control solution designed specifically for their unique challenges and offers flexibility and virtually endless scope for development and extension.
CEM Systems to exhibit latest security solutions at ISNR, UAE
CEM Systems, a Tyco International company, will showcase its latest industry innovations at ISNR (International Security National Resilience Exhibition & Conference), Abu Dhabi. The exhibition takes place on 1st – 3rd March at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, UAE. On display will be the new CEM S3020f Portable Reader and CEM’s latest version 6 software platform for the CEM AC2000 system range. Available in AC2000 Lite, Standard Edition & Airport Edition versions, AC2000 is a fully integrated security management system that allows seamless integration with 3rd party systems such Fire,CCTV, DVR and Intercoms.
“The ISNR show is an excellent platform for CEM to demo the very latest product innovations”, said Andrew Fulton, Business Development Director for CEM products. “On display will be the new CEM S3020f portable hand-held fingerprint reader and CEM’s advanced range of IP card readers.” The S3020f reader is a hand-held card reading and fingerprint verification device that enables security to be carried out at temporary check points where no mains power is available. Unlike comparable solutions that save fingerprint templates only to a smart card, the S3020f reader captures fingerprint templates on the central CEM AC2000 access control system. Using a Suprema fingerprint module, fingerprints are read and encrypted on the AC2000 server and uniquely distributed to the S3020f reader for storage in its large internal database - holding 100,000 card and biometric records. The reader also has an ‘Occupancy Mode’ which provides the ability to do the spot checks on a set group of people in a defined area. It ensures that each person physically in the area is allowed access via their ID card privileges.
CEM will also be showcasing the new Version 6 of its platform CEM AC2000 SE (Standard Edition) System - a powerful and fully integrated access control, alarm processing and photo badging system. AC2000 SE is now available with new features that increase the performance, functionality and scope of the system including a new look and feel to user applications, increased DVR/CCTV support and increased 3rd party integration.

There are a host of new features available with AC2000 SE v6 including:
- Increased DVR Support for IndigoVision & Bosch Vidos Video Management System – In addition to the complete American Dynamics range, AC2000 SE now supports integration with IndigoVision. This provides powerful features such as live camera call-up and playback of recorded alarm footage. The AC2000 SE external systems interface has also been enhanced to support the BOSCH VIDOS video management system, allowing the triggering of events such as recording footage or switching live camera footage to a monitor.
- Increased Intruder Panel Support – now supporting Honeywell Galaxy Dimension.
- AC2000 API (Application Programming Interface) – A CEM ‘Application Programming Interface’ allows 3rd party developers to create their own interfaces to the AC2000 SE system.
- CEM AC2000 XML interface – allows for 3rd party data import, e.g. personnel/cardholder details from a customer’s HR system.
- Increased Intruder Panel Support – now supporting Honeywell Galaxy Dimension.
At ISNR, the AC2000 SE system will be integrated with the American Dynamics Intellex digital video management system, displaying its powerful integration capabilities.
