Renowned international speakers confirm papers for pharma biotech conference
The field of research & development requires the scientists to generate process and interpret the data accurately. As India is becoming an important hub for drug discovery, the demand of technologies such as lab automation can help the scientists address the challenges in the initial stages of research in this field.
Conference program must set clear road map for younger generations, argue Pharma CAB members
First Central Advisory Board (CAB) meeting to shape the forthcoming Pharma Biotech international conference program was held on 4th August in Mumbai under the Chairmanship of Mr. Ranjit Shahani, Vice Chairman & MD Novartis India Ltd. Mr. Jasu Shah, Founder and Chairman, Chemtech Foundation thanked Mr. Shahani and the members of advisory board to have taken time out from their busy schedules to discuss the road map for the conference program.
ABIAMQ to promote Chemtech to more than 175 Brazilian companies
Brazil is world’s 8th largest economy by nominal GDP and 9th largest by purchasing power parity. Its economy outweighs that of all other South American countries. The country’s economy has improved steadily over the years that can be attributed to the country’s industrial growth.
More Japanese Industry Associations endorse Chemtech
India is a critical market for the Japanese industry which is evident from the fact that various industry associations from chemical process and allied industries in Japan have already confirmed their support towards the mega event scheduled early next year in Mumbai.

BIOMETRICS & ACCESS CONTROL
TECHNO FOCUS
Visitor management: Taking it seriously
Good governance suggests that visitor records should be held for three years but there are specific exceptions - the construction industry is required to keep such records for 30 years. If we set aside the substantial problems of storing and then retrieving thousands of paper-based records, we are still left with the inaccuracy and illegibility inherent in these pieces of paper.
Making secure homes through automated access
Good signage is very important to announce that the property is private property and to post no trespassing policies. Intruders can tailgate into a property behind someone else, but this requires effort and exposes the trespasser to a potential witness. Wrong-doers want to gain access to a property anonymously and blend into the community.
Integrating the business through access control
Leading security organisations are now placing the emphasis on access control systems as the absolute integration platform. Instead of access control, intruder and CCTV systems working in near isolation from each other, they can now be networked and centrally, or remotely, monitored and controlled via an access control solution.
Linking the biometrics & access control
Access control systems authorise access to certain areas in a building or site when presented with a proximity and magnetic stripe card. However, since it is easy to lose or steal these cards, these locations remain vulnerable. Customers, especially those in high-risk industries such as mining, are turning to biometric devices to minimise this risk.
Redefining the access control
The ideal is to move toward a Web application portfolio that can be centrally managed by a Web access management (WAM) product, so look to replace or re-engineer (‘Webify’) legacy applications to exploit the product. New applications should be integrated directly with the WAM product.
Technology trends of electronic access control
The burgeoning adoption of electronic access control technology is also redefining t he meaning of the term ‘total opening’ in the security market and beyond. As electronics play an ever-increasing role in managing a building’s entrances, the added initial investment is more than justified by the increased economic value that the so-called total opening generates.

Understanding the legislation for CCTV environment
The ambiguity is reflected by companies or personnel who seek legal advice and may find that legal opinions are often at variance with each other. Indeed, I have come across situations where a company has got a number of opinions until they found the one they liked. Legal questions that apply to CCTV typically come from a range of sources, with little actual legislation targeting CCTV specifically.
Leveraging Southern: Sparsh strengthens its Pan India presence
With an aim to streamline the operation of its channel partners, India’s best security product company, Samriddhi Automations Pvt. Ltd. better known as Sparsh has recently organized a dealers’ orientation program called Sparsh Raj Cabletronics Tech Summit , 2010 at the Hotel Rathna Regency ,Coimbatore.
Evaluating the role of CCTV in security industry
The movement into a digital age, and the fact that many of these devices now record into digital format creates concerns that footage or images may be faked or manipulated. However, this should hardly mean that we disregard all information that does not meet ideal standards.
Using wipers with thermal cameras
Optical cameras use a glass lens, which does not transmit infrared radiation well, and thermal cameras use a metal, Germanium, which is a good transmitter of infrared radiation. Germanium is a very expensive material and it is covered with a carbon coating.
Securing the IP network
The firewall examines each packet of information and determines whether it should continue on to its destination or be filtered out. The firewall serves as a gate-keeper, blocking or restricting traffic between two networks, such as a video surveillance network and the Internet.
The growth path for IP surveillance?
IP surveillance sales figures will overtake that of CCTV by the year 2011. This is largely due to the advanced functionality and easy integration of IP surveillance. Although IP surveillance has opened the doors for many different types of functionality, there are 10 main reasons why IP surveillance is quickly taking over the CCTV market.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENTS
TECHNOLOGY
PPE management: The perfect earplugs fitting
The worker with a bad fit may be lulled into a false sense of protection when he detects slight muffling of high-frequency sounds or when some of the “edge” is taken off shrill noise. But because the poor fit has seriously compromised low-frequency protection, the effective overall protection is 0 dB!
Protecting the eyes :The crucial safety component
The majority of workplace eye injuries are caused by small particles or objects (such as metal slivers, wood chips or dust) striking or abrading the eye. It is found that 70 percent of eye injuries studied resulted from flying or falling objects or sparks striking the eye.
How implement effective hand protection
The variation allows for increased gripping in the foam version, making this coated glove a good choice for tasks that require a high degree of dexterity and sensitivity where a grip is important, such as handling small oily or wet parts.
Fall protection training: The need of hour
Suspended workers with head injuries or who are unconscious are at a higher risk for suspension trauma. Suspension trauma does not always result in long-term injuries. In fact, there have been documented cases of workers who have been suspended for over an hour and, when rescued, were in good health.
Knowing the safety concerns of protective footwear
The other half is monitoring safety footwear for signs that the shoe may need to be retired. There’s no one-size-fits-all formula for knowing exactly when it’s time to replace safety shoes, as there are many variables to consider such as the job hazards, how often the boot is worn and the size and weight of the worker.
Selecting the protective garments
The majority of apparel purchasers are most concerned with protection. Because if the garment doesn’t protect the wearer from hazards in the work environment, it won’t matter how comfortable the garment is...it will be dangerous. When selecting protective garments, these are the two key garment characteristics purchasers consider to determine the best suit for the job.
